A Cool Invention I Made From a $1.99 Thrift Store Find

Okay, first...who can tell me what this use to be originally? I'm dying to know. I saw it at the Thrift Store and was intrigued. I thought for sure I could do something worthwhile with it. I tried all sorts of different things but nothing really worked until I came up with this idea I'm going to share with you.
Oh...I also taped it to the glass pedestal you see here, just to give it some more height.
I took some moderately thick wire and twisted it on so it would make a big circle all the way around.
Next, I took some clips with grips (after Christmas sale), and used those to hold my little supplies in my Studio/Guest room.

I also used a couple of Tag hangers.

Silly me...I've used the same idea above my crafting table as well. I found this do-dad at Ross. It's meant for drying your dainties in the laundry room, but I use it as a way to hold my future project ideas.
And then I just had to show you this PERFECT tall flower I recently found at TJMaxx. I always refer to my Studio as the Yellow, White and Blue room. AKA, the happy room. So when I found this yellow, white and blue flower that said PLAY...who could resist? Not me!!! : )

Wednesdays With My Mom And New Stuff in the Shop.

This photo was taken just before baby no. 3... June, was born. Mom and Dad are sitting in front of their duplex in CA.

I love that my dad enjoyed experimenting with the nice camera my parents bought just before their marriage. Because of that purchase, we have this legacy of photos. And thanks to our wonderful SIL, we have them beautifully organized. Cindy, we could never thank you enough!
I just had to scan this close up of Andy in the stroller, and adorable little Diana following behind on her tricycle. : )
Well........we tried to make it to the theatre last week, but once we arrived, my mom was not feeling well enough to stay. So we went to my place for awhile, and then ended up coming back to her place to watch Bonanza.
Have I told you yet that my mom has a crush on the "Dad" of Bonanza? What was his name...was it Loren Green? Anyway, she has a crush on him and John Wayne. Too cute!!

Tutorial for Linen Bookmarks

NOTE: For those of you coming over for 'Wednesdays With My Mom', it's right below this post.
So my sweet friend, Margie, approaches me one day, saying, "Leslie needs about 20 handouts for the leaders of Girls Camp, and I think we should help her out cuz she has enough on her plate right now." So we brain stormed and here's what we came up with:
The theme for Girls Camp this year was, as you see above, Daughter of a King. Meaning, you are a daughter of God.
So I typed it up and printed it out on paper first. Then, I taped the linen to the paper, so that they would line up just right...
Fed them through the printer and then stamped the crowns.
Next, Margie used her Super-Duper Viking with all the bells and whistles and did a decorative stitch all the way around.
Next, we frayed all the edges by pulling out the threads up to the stitching line, put in an eyelet, and attached the small tassel.
Margie had the great idea to attach a candy bar and little note to each.
What a happy picture above! Below, is what we put inside the notes. The only caution I would throw out there, is that linen is very expensive. Margie got this piece at a needlework shop and I believe it was around $25. However, there was just enough left for me to make a couple of miniature Lavender-filled pillows. Be looking for them in the Shop soon.
Enjoy your Wednesday. I'm planning on going to see the movie, 'Up', with my mom. : )

Wednesdays With My Mom

Surprise!!! Guess who's expecting baby no. 3, and still looking like a model for a magazine.
Below, Andy is about one year old.

And again, as a Senior in High School. Can you believe how handsome he is? Yes, that's a National Honor Society pin on his lapel, and Yes, he was the President of his High School. Man, I sure hope I'm not in big trouble now. That's why I love posting these WAY late at night...it's too late to ask permission. : ) Love you, big brother!

If you remember, last Wednesday was the actual day we started moving my mom. It was a very emotional and stressful day. Thank heavens for the little Ballet Recital, so that I could get my mom out of the old apartment and get her mind off all that was going on.

Above, is my daughter, Emily, and another instructor greeting my mom before the recital.

Emily, instructing the children in all the different positions before they actually performed their dance.
Below, little Miss G visiting with GG.
Okay, on to Thursday. Another stress filled day, due to trying to finish up all the moving and I needed to get my mom over to a Dr. appointment to finish up all the paperwork the new Caregiver needed. So on the way to the Dr., we stopped to get a couple of Dr. Peppers. My mom doesn't drink them very often anymore, because she tries to eat and drink only healthy things. But let me tell you...Thursday was a Dr. Pepper day. And boy did it bring a smile to her face when I told her so, as we pulled up to the window to order. : )
Sam, the new Caregiver, has two pugs. My mom LOVES dogs! I thought I'd snap this one for my siblings.
On Friday night, my sweet friend, Margie, came by with her puppy, Little-Bit. Margie...you're an angel!
I look tired here, but that's because................I was.Notice Little-Bit's red, white and blue hair bows. Too cute! You may have also noticed the leftover bruise above my mother's right eye. Leftover from the fall I mentioned last week. : (

Then on Saturday, Em and her family stopped by before the fireworks. Thanks guys!
