Wednesdays With My Mom AND...V-Day 2010

If you remember, I took my mom to get her eye glasses adjusted a couple of weeks ago. While we were there I had them make an official eye appointment, which was this day last week.
Cute Story: We forgot her sunglasses, so she borrowed mine for the trip. When she looked at herself in the side rear-view mirror, she said, "Hey, I don't look too bad in these!" Made me smile. : )

Guess who drove down from School to surprise Sara for Valentine's Day! He even did the romantic "throw pebbles at her window thing". So sweet!!!

I got this table-runner from Kohl's this year. How cute is it, that they put the word Love in the corner?

Did you happen to get these $1.00 Initial Stamps from Michael's this year? As you can see, below, I embossed them.

Princess C. and G. wearing their new little aprons. The cupcake one came from Kohl's and I purchased the cherry one while on a trip out of town a while back.

Rootbeer float time!!!

My beautiful girls!!!

We sure missed this little guy (in London) and his mommy and daddy this year. Happy Valentine's Day precious boy!!!
I hope you each had a good one, too! : )

Do NOT Try This at Home...

Unless you have a room with padded walls!!!
Have you ever picked up a pattern, thinking to yourself, "How hard could it be"?
Well, it's a good thing I have perseverance, is all I can say! This purse was VERY hard!!

But as you can see...it was worth it. And I learned a lot while making it.

Sara decided she wanted to make one too. Here's her fabric choice, below.
Below: AWARD WINNING SUPER BOWL DECORATIONS!!! Ha! : ) Purchased at Hobby Lobby.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!!

Wednesdays With My Mom

Our good brother-in-law recently repaired and framed this old painting my mom did years ago. She had given it to our Aunt, who recently passed away, as a gift.
We are so grateful that her nephew sent it back to my sister, June, below. Thanks so much, Ron, for the beautiful job you did repairing and framing it. I can tell it has made Mom very happy.
On this day last week, I took over this loom gadget. Did you have one as a child? Well, I did. And I was such a funny little kid, that after my friend and I made about a ton of these potholders, she and I went around the neighborhood selling them for twenty-five cents each. I LOVE telling this story...it cracks me up! : )
I was very interested to know if my mom could follow the color pattern or not. She sure could and it was very important to her to get it right. SO CUTE!

Before we left, Sara said to me, "Do you think Grandmother would like to see my new wallet from the antique store I just bought?" I assured her, she would. I was right. : )
As promised, I finally got the videos from last week to load. They're each about 12 seconds long. I know my family has been waiting to see them...I hope you'll enjoy them too. : ) You can hear her cute voice in the 2nd one.

If you remember, we "got 'er done!". Happy Wednesday to all.

YEA!!! A Baby Shower

Time for some fun!!!

Some very dear family friends of ours are having a baby boy soon.
I bought this "Featherweight" machine a couple of years ago for the "blanket stitch" to use on my picnic basket quilt and many other projects. I LOOOOVE the blanket stitch for applique.
Now was the time to do some more experimenting. So I used stitch No. 13 on the edge of this baby blanket. BTW, did you notice the 2nd machine in the back? I've had that since my 1st daughter was born and it works like a dream. As long as you take them in for routine maintenance, I really believe the old metal machines are worth their weight in gold. But this little 'brother' machine is SO fun with all its decorative stitches. It's as light as a feather and cost under $200.00 from Costco. I've noticed they also sell these at Target.

I think I'm in LOVE! : )
Another little tip to share:

If you have long cuts to make and you really need to hold that ruler in place, this is the gadget for you!
FAIR WARNING THOUGH: Don't take your young daughter along with you when you buy this puppy. The following was our conversation at the cash register...
Sara: "Soooooooo, it's come to this now. You're already starting to buy the Sr. Citizen stuff!"
Me: While rolling my eyes..."Noooooooo, this happens to be for something else, entirely."
Sara: "Yeah, right," while rolling her eyes. Hee-hee! Gotta love her!

I haven't done any dry embossing in a long time. This occasion called for some great playtime!

I love celebrating new life. Babies really do fill our hearts. : )

Congratulations sweet Liz and Daniel!!!
