Wednesdays With my Mom

My beautiful Mother. At work as a Secretary at about the age of 24.

Okay, catching up on two 'Wednesdays...' this week. Two weeks ago I decided to ask my Mom if she wanted to help me with a sewing/craft project. She was thrilled (I just knew she would be).
: ) So I marked precisely where to make the stitches.

My mom was the most incredible seamstress I've ever known. She really should have been a fashion designer.

I kept asking her is she was tired and wanted to stop. But she just happily plowed through until all eight were done.

The fruits of her labor (above). This allowed me to make two more Boo Banners. One for us and one for my Shop. Click HERE if you would like one for your home.
Then, last week I asked my mom if she would like to help me finish up the painting of our family room. This is also another longtime love of my mom's. I have plenty of memories of her painting the walls of our homes over the years.
She loved every minute of this. I had a feeling she would. (Wink) ;-)

And of course, the end result. Thank you sweet Mom!

  2. You know, ML, there are child labor laws...are there "mom" labor laws as well? :D I'm sure your Mom loved being able to help you in your creative endeavors! xoxo

  3. I LOVE how you find ways for your mom to be active and involved in life. In my before kids life I was a social worker for the elderly and so many times I saw seniors who were so depressed because life had lost all meaning for them and their families carried on around them but never involved them. It's so much healthier for them physically, emotionally and mentally to include them they way you do :) Your mom is lucky to have you and it sounds like you are lucky to have her too. God bless!

  8. For some reason this post really got me today and kind of makes me teary. I don't know why, maybe it reminds me of my grandma who made the most beautiful quilts, even after she lost one eye to diabetes. She loved that stuff! I inherited her sewing machine and I love it. I think of her every time I use it.

  13. How good of you to have your mom do some "work". I bet she felt great doing that. You're gutsy painting with the furniture right there, uncovered! I thought I was daring, but that tops me! It all looks great.
