Darling outfit, darling hat.
Dad with the first three kiddos. Steve and I were still up in Heaven, waiting to make our appearance. : )
Nothing to "write home about" on this day last week. We just hung out and watched several episodes from this DVD of the first season of Green Acres I had found recently for $3.99. Sara even joined us for part of it and got a kick out of it. Funny stuff. : )
At one point last Wednesday, my mom said, "I wish I had a notebook of some sort to keep notes in." The funny thing is, that I had just picked this up (below) at a book store recently because it was so cute. I ran and got it and gave it to her. She was SO happy. Her reaction made me smile. : )
You know how you never forget how your mother's hands look? There's just something about it, they're imprinted in your mind and heart all your life.
As promised, I dug up some old photos of Sara in the Dorothy costume I made when she was little.
Happy Haunting. : )

Your mom is always so stylish in the old photos. She is just gorgeous!
Green Acres is definitely funny. I haven't seen it in a long, long time. How perfect that you had that notebook.
CUTE Dorothy costume...or maybe because Sara is in it!!!!!♥
It was so fun coming to see you today! Have a happy day!
Beautiful. Love her Dorothy costume. It's been a long time since I've seen Green Acres. We enjoyed our visit.
Oh, you found the photos! She does look like a sweet Dorothy! I know you are thrilled to get the doll now! Your Mom is beautiful!
I love that show! Weird, I know, but it's true!
I love that you always document your Wednesdays with your mom!! The old photos of her always remind me of old hollywood actresses.
Your last post was total eye candy. It was so 'Nightmare before Christmas'! Just loved it!
Are you going to make any more Halloween pendants? I came back to snag the little girl "boo" one and some lucky person had beat me to it. No pressure, if you don't make any more than my loss,...I'll come snag one next year! :):)
Lovely that the note pad gave your Mom such joy! You are so wise to capture these days with her in photos. I took a photo of my mom's hands holding a pretty crocheted hanky a few months before she passed away. It is very special to all of us.
I love Sara's Dorothy outfit - so cute!
Your mom is so precious. I soooo love your mom posts because I can relate so much to working with seniors and my own mom. Yes, I can still feel my moms hands on my face. Old hands, beautiful hands. Thanks so much for sharing these very intimate lovely times you share with your mom.
M.L. This post had me in tears. I have my mother's hands, and I love them for that very reason. Your old photographs are so meaningful to so many. They bring all our childhoods close to our hearts. Your Halloween display is another creative masterpiece. You are something special! E
What a sweet photo of your Mom. She looks so pretty in it ~ I love the hat!
It's so special to be able to do things to make our parents smile. My father-in-law gives me the best grin whenever I surprise him with a special treat. Apple fritters are the latest favorite.
My Mom's hands are small and she has beautiful nails. We've always told her that she had teflon coated hands becasue she would use such hot water when she washed dishes. Thanks for the nudge to remember!
It's so fun to just hang out sometimes. Enjoy every moment with her. My mother's hands were hardworking, gentle, healing. I miss them every day. Mimi
HI Marylou!!!
I always love your Wednesdays with Mom, you know just what to do to make her day special!!! Just a simple notebook/journal and she is happy and if she writes special notes or memories in it--it is your gift all over again!!!
I always loved Green Acres!!!! I would dream about those dresses she wore!!!!
have a blessed day
I had a Dorothy costume too!!!
hugs,
jamie
Every Wednesday, I am transported back in time to my youth when I visit Wednesdays with Mom. Actually, I am transported back to a photo layout in Life Magazine back in the day....my youth wasn't quite as perpetually polished looking! ;)
You made the Dorothy costume too???!!! I may just have to begin officially hating you. I'll have to think about it.
Loved the shot of Wilma's hand. Adored the fact she wanted a notebook. I wonder what gems she'll record?!
Aw Sara looks so cute! hehe. And I never really thought about my mother's hands but once you said it, I have to say it's true. I will remember her hands forever.
Green Acres is the place to be. Oh my, that brings back some childhood memories. My parents were very strict with TV, but that is one show we could watch along with Andy Griffith and The Beaver.
How wonderful that your mom writing things in that cute little notebook. My Grandmother (91) has kept notebooks (or I guess diaries) since before she was married. I can't imagine how many notebooks she has filled.
Love the part about your mothers hands. That is sweet and made me think of my mother's hands.
Your mom is so cute. You're right about remembering your mothers hands. I look at my own and see my mom. I think you must have made her day with the journal. I think she must really look forward to Wednesdays.
Sandra
I always love the old photos you post of your family. It actually brings back memories for me - same time period.
Green Acres- my hubby will go around singing the theme song every now and then. His favorite was Arnold!

Hi M.L.-I love the pic of your Dad and the sibs. Little people don't wear "dress coats" anymore-how sad. They looked so cute! And your Mom's hat-very stylish! I laughed about the Green Acres tapes-you are so good. I love your Halloween display. I have a Lori Mitchell figure, too (seen here: http://scrapforjoy.blogspot.com/2009/09/ive-been-wanting-to-share-this.html)
I wasn't familiar with her until I saw your pieces. Now I've been looking all over for her figures...they are so cute. Love the Dorothy...my daughter was Dot in the Wizard of Oz...good memories. xoxo
Joyce
Very cute Dorothy.
You're so right about your mother's hands. I think about that a lot.
I was singing the Green Acres song the other day--at least the parts I could remember!
I love your blog! It's my first time here. It is so true about hands. My hands look like my moms, whose look like my gigi and her hands look like my great grandmother. I don't care for my hands, but look at my mom's and admire them. Several posts back you have a picture of your home. You have to tell me if you live in Arizona?! I lived there for 19 years and stucco and rock yard SCREAM Arizona.
Good Morning Mary Lou ~
Great post and thanks for sharing. I too love fonts. I also love your pumpkin in the cloche...cute~ola Mary Lou. You home is filled with wonderful eye candy...If this is what you do for Halloween...I can't wait to see what you do for the rest of the holidays!
Smiles ~ Ramona
