Some very dear family friends of ours are having a baby boy soon.
I bought this "Featherweight" machine a couple of years ago for the "blanket stitch" to use on my picnic basket quilt and many other projects. I LOOOOVE the blanket stitch for applique.
Now was the time to do some more experimenting. So I used stitch No. 13 on the edge of this baby blanket. BTW, did you notice the 2nd machine in the back? I've had that since my 1st daughter was born and it works like a dream. As long as you take them in for routine maintenance, I really believe the old metal machines are worth their weight in gold. But this little 'brother' machine is SO fun with all its decorative stitches. It's as light as a feather and cost under $200.00 from Costco. I've noticed they also sell these at Target.
I think I'm in LOVE! : )
Another little tip to share:
If you have long cuts to make and you really need to hold that ruler in place, this is the gadget for you!
FAIR WARNING THOUGH: Don't take your young daughter along with you when you buy this puppy. The following was our conversation at the cash register...Sara: "Soooooooo, it's come to this now. You're already starting to buy the Sr. Citizen stuff!"
Me: While rolling my eyes..."Noooooooo, this happens to be for something else, entirely."
Sara: "Yeah, right," while rolling her eyes. Hee-hee! Gotta love her!
I haven't done any dry embossing in a long time. This occasion called for some great playtime!
I love celebrating new life. Babies really do fill our hearts. : )

That is lovely fabric and the stitching is just beautiful. The finished presentation with your hand-crafted cards makes it all so special. What a blessed little boy he will be. Congrats to the parents and I hope they'll share a pic of him wrapped in this loving gift!

I just fininshed a blanket, fancy burpclothes and the newest rage: the carseat cover blanket-thingy for our daughter's teacher: Who happened to have her baby on Olivia's birthday! So fun!! ReplyDeleteMy sewing machine, my hubby bought for me for my 21st! I know, not very exciting,but that was 22years ago! It desparately needs some work, it doesnt feed through by itself anymore! Its a Janome, and has so many stitches, including the one you used!

Sounds as if Sara needs a good licking! (DH started this when our kids were young and learning how to be somewhat "sarcastic". He would say "sounds like you need a good licking to me" and then he would lick them, always on their cheeks. UGGGGG. It did become a challenge sometimes and I guess that was the fun! The grandsons have picked up this little habit and do their fair share of meting out this form of punishment back to grandpa! :-D ) Just some "grossness" from our family to yours! LOL
