Playing With Flowers and Other Random Things...

Michael's has their Hydrangeas on sale this week, so I brought a bunch home and have had fun trying to arrange them.

Isn't this vase, below, just beautiful???
I just got it at Marshalls in case you have to have one too. : )
This one below, is Sara's take on it. She really loves them in the ceramic pitchers (as seen in many magazines lately).
Many of you have seen my other Santos figurine wearing the crown I made. Thanks to A Day in the Life of Ramona, she directed me to the Ballard Design website to find that first one. Then, they recently put this beauty on sale for half price. Who could resist??? Not me!!!! I'm planning on having the two of them hold a banner between them in some kind of future vignette. Be waiting with bated breath. : )

I took this photo(below) in the morning and was hoping those sun spots would show up on the finished product.
Does anyone know what this random little thing was meant for originally? It didn't come with the bottles, but I'm glad they fit.
I decided to use it for button storage.

More storage for my specialty buttons. These flower-cases are found on the bead aisle in the craft stores.
And here's a sneak peek at what I'm hoping to finish in time for my 4th of July vignette. She's only been months in the making!
Have a great weekend,
Mary Lou

  4. Hey M.L.,
Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. I have 3 bushes in front of the house that I'm hoping give me great blooms this year like they did last year. The button jar holder looks like a syrup holder they have a restaurants with different types of syrups.

    Blessings,
    Jessica

  5. I think that was originally a holder for test tubes. Did you clean it??? :)
I love marshalls...and I usually leave the prices on the bottom to remind me of the bargains I have found.
Love your Santos lady...and can't wait for your 4th of July decorations. I will be holding my breath..turning blue alreaddddyyyyy....

  6. The button holder idea is great! I haven't seen anything like that before. The hydrangeas look beautiful in both, though I really like the pitcher.

Your mom looks like she is enjoying being home again.

  7. Hi Mary Lou! I dont know what that holder was orginally intended for, but its perfect for what youre using it for! It would be cute to use the little jars like vases and to fill each with flowers too!
Love marshalls and tj maxx! We always find the best stuff there.

  8. Your hydrangea arrangements are so pretty. I am tempted to go get some, but I am trying to clean out and redo some things around here, so no new accessories til I know where I am going with this. Sorry don't know what the container was originally for - spice jars maybe? I like your using it for buttons.
Hope you are having a great weekend.

  9. I thought maybe it was for containers of condiments...but test tubes could be right, too. Love how well it works for embellishments! Enjoy your weekend! ♥

  10. Hi Mary Lou!
    Thanks for visiting me :)
I LOVE your Wednesday's with your Mom...I end up with a tear or 2 in my eyes :)
The flowers are pretty in the Blue vase...which is one of my fav colors. Ijust planted a real one today...a little gift to myself and it's blue...could change later because of the soil.
Busy gal making a sweet doll..
The sun is shining and I'm one happy gal!
    Warmly,
    Deb :)

  12. Well, you have given me permission to go to Michaels! I have three hydrangea bushes, all are only a year old...but they are trying. No blooms like the ones you bought that's for sure!

Just came home from a surprise visit by my daughter and her boyfriend. We went out for Thai food. I think they get sick of me talking about my love of blogging...How many bloggers do you know originally they asked...just one...I don't think they get how chatting weekly and commenting bonds us all together like super groovy girl glue!

Love and happiness to you. I'm so happy you are in my life. Loved reading the update on mom too. I walked in the Alzheimer walk this morning in memory of my mom.

Hope all is going well for your Mom, seems like things are much better now. Have a blessed Sunday kiddo . . Sandy:O)

  20. Oh sigh...someday I'll give in and get a santos. I saw the one at Ballards when it was 50% off-it's the large one, right? Hope they have the smaller one some time. I just am enchanted by their faces. I love hydrangeas...real or silk! I've got to settle down and start working on some projects!
    Hope your Sunday is gentle!

  22. Good Monday Morning to you! Lots of great stuff you're sharing with us. Those Hydrangeas are beautiful. And I can't decide which vessel is my favorite.

I was eyeballing those Santos figures in the Ballard catty just this weekend . . . mmm, may have to give them a second look after hearing your idea of using two of them to hold a banner - genius! ;o)

Love the jar holder thingy - whatever it is! Don't ya just love different, unique items like that?!

Thanks for sharing all your goodies.

I wanted to tell you that my 90 year old MIL has come through her crisis with flying colors! She is amazing! We were 50/50 coma and die or fine. God love her she has nine lives! She will now have to go into a nursing home for round the clock care. Prayers to your mother's well being, Elizabeth

  27. I somehow missed this post. I LOVE your Santos and I recently ordered one. I have seen yours and Ramona's and that "want" has now had me for a while, so I finally broke down and ordered one. It is actually supposed to be shipped out tomorrow.

Your hydrangeas are so pretty. My real ones are starting to bloom and I am sooooo excited! I am with several others on the piece you are showing, that it might have been a condiment server....who knows. I love the colorful buttons in the jars.♥

Your July 4th decoration ALREADY looks adorable. Can't wait to see more!
