Do you remember when I found these cute little houses at Easter time and was so excited to turn them into Christmas houses later? Well...after Easter they put them on sale (TJ MAXX) so now I can "have my cake and eat it too", as the expression goes. : )
I had SO much fun altering these, deciding on the colors and what to add to turn them into Christmas houses.
I added the snow to the top of the chimney, below.
How many of you received one of these (below) as a wedding gift? Well, the one I used to have ended up at Goodwill a few years ago. Good thing they only cost $3.99 at Goodwill, cuz I bought it back (or at least one just like it) a couple of months ago...
so I could do this to it (below).
I love the fact that you can choose to use it as a shaker or pour it out. But the best feature is how easy it is to put the excess back after you're done with your glitter job.
I thought I would throw the following pics in with this post too while I was at it.
Nothing is safe from the "Holiday Decorators" around here...
nothing!! : )
If you would like to view my 'Glitter House Village Under the Tree' (below) from Christmas 2010, click HERE.
I love villages for any season and your new winter village pieces are amazing. Isn't glitter great! Your mantel is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour village is so dang sweet and cute. I just want to shrink up real small, so I can trek through it. HA! love the tree with the sayings on it. I have some of those sayings too.
ReplyDeleteHI!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your "New Christmas village"!!! I would have loved it as an Easter one too!!!! I have got to do something like that with my glitter, as Miss Camdyn has found it on my pantry shelf and loves to sprinkle it all over the floor!!!!!I bought the ginger cookies, but I ate them!!!! I have to get another box to make the garland!!!!
funny!!!!
Your tree in the corner is awesome!!!! Love the words!!!!
hugs,
jamie

ReplyDeleteYou've taken those glitter houses to another level! They're gorgeous, and you've inspired me to look at things differently, like turning an Easter house into a Christmas one!
ReplyDeleteI have some of those little houses too only I got mine at Pier I. What a bright idea! Mine look so much like Easter Houses but your special touch, turned them into a Christmas village. I love that! Fab idea with the displaced spice rack...a light bulb moment. Great idea!

ReplyDeleteI just love what you did with the houses. My Mom used to have houses like that. Oh how I wished I still had them. They eventually tore up and she threw them out. They were made of cardboard and she bought them in the 40s.
ReplyDeleteClever idea for the glitter. I never thought about that.
