Playtime!!!

Let me just say first, that my baby girl has been very, very sick for over a week now.
Oops...I forgot...she looks like this now, but I still think of her as the photo above...especially when she's sick. Anyway, we've been to the Dr. four times in the past week because the glands in her neck have been swollen out to the Wa-Zoo and her tonsils have been swollen, which makes it painful to swallow. Poor baby. She has Mono.(no, not from kissing a boy) she got it in some (un)glamorous way which is still a mystery to us. The Dr. we saw yesterday finally put her on the right meds to give her some relief. Today the E.N.T. Dr. said we are on the right track now, and gave her the all-clear. This is the very first day she woke up feeling better rather than worse since all this began a week and a half ago. I'm very grateful!
So, to celebrate the relief from constant worry for the past several days, I did something creative tonight (close to her, at the kitchen table) while she vegged on the couch and watched American Idol. Have you ever heard of Grungeboard, by Tim Holtz? Well, it's fun stuff. It's flexible, unlike chipboard.
Remember the red glitter hearts I showed you a few posts ago from JoAnn's? Here's what I decided to do with one of them.

ARGH...I forgot to distress the edges before I Mod Podged the wings. I'll have to see what I can do about that later.
I also finished up this tag below, that I started earlier. Lots of fun.

And, you probably noticed the addition to my Header today. I FINALLY found myself a poseable hand at a funny little Art Supply place by the University. Yipee! Think of all the mischief I can get into with this little treasure when it comes to holidays.

THANK GOODNESS! : )

so glad your daughter is starting to be on the mend. I have been sick for the past week too and my mom felt the same way.

That heart with the wings is great! I don't think you need to worry about not having distressed the wings. It looks great to me! Kelly

Cute stuff. I just love your creativeness!

I hope your daughter gets back to her normal self soon. My little brother came down with mono a year or two ago. He recovered perfectly. I wish your daughter the same!

I'm on vacation for the next two weeks but wanted to stop in and say "Hi."
Both my kids had mono. My son was only down for 2 weeks but my daughter was out of school for almost 3 months! The mono attacked her organs and we ran to the ER many many times. I'm glad her doctor has your daughter on meds I hope this helps her to recover. What out for thyroid problems in the next couple of years on her though. I don't know why but sometimes mono causes thyroid issues later. ???

Your crafts are fabulous as always!

You're right, the alligator wins! Everytime I looked at that rubber plant that ended up in my mom's living room, I got annoyed. Love the grunge board. Did you get it at a craft store? I'd like to take a look at it. The hand is CUTE. I know you won't do anything too goofy with it, will you? I can think of several possibilities. One of my girls served an American Sign Language mission so I thought she could come up with some interesting poses. Hope your baby is feeling better. Mono is the pits. We had it at our house years ago. All your creations are adorable as usual. Mimi

I love what you did to the heart. Are the chipboard pieces from JoAnne's too? I am so sorry about your daughter. my son had mono a couple of years ago. It is hard on them. He wasn't fully recovered for 6 months, or at least not to full energy until then. I said a prayer for your sweet one!

I'm glad your beautiful daughter is starting to get some relief. Mono really wipes the stuffing right out of you!
I love to visit your blog. I come to drool over your amazing blog banner and I love the things you create-I am going to be looking for these hearts this week. What a clever idea! I love the Ward Cleever quote-gosh I miss the Beav!

I hope your daughter feels better soon! Seems like everyone is sick right now.

Love ♥ Love your craft! I think I might need to make a few of these! ;)

And I laughed at your daughter's coomment on ordering Addison..... How cute is that! Have fun making the quilt. It turns out so dang cute! Just be sure to use basting spray. Oh and I used a kids' glue stick to glue down the squares, I only glued the middle though didn't want to gum up my needle. If you run into something and have a ? don't hesitate to ask.

Okay one other thing. I didn't do her sting thing.... You'll understand when you get your pattern. Good luck!

Great idea! Glad your little baby girl is feeling better! Make sure she gets plenty of rest, even after she thinks she feels good. I had mono when I was a teenager for.ever. I didn't rest like I was supposed to and it kept coming back, so I would feel good one week, and then be sick again the next.

LOVE your ideas! And the mono thing is a real bummer.....when I met the Big Guy he had been suffering from mono for months. He finally took some heavy doses of vitamins that helped his body get back to normal. Very hard to ALWAYS feel tired :( Hope she's better soon!

I'm glad your baby girl is on the mend. I had mono my senior year in college and it wasn't fun.

Love your creativity with the heart!

Love the winged heart! Did you glue the wings on the back of the heart or push them into the side of the heart?

I hope your girlie feels better soon!
