What... I... Did... On... My... Summer.....

Vacation Hiatus!! Okay, true confessions...

We had a Dinner Party here last Thursday night. And because I tend to be "right on top of things at all times"...Not!...my whole Universe has to come to a screeching halt if I'm expecting out-of-town company or a "Social" of any kind at my home. I used to say, "When will I ever learn?", but I'm waaaaay too old for that now, so instead, I just go with the flow. Which entails shutting down the Universe (as much as is humanly possible) and digging in at tackling procrastinated projects, painting walls, cleaning carpets, washing slipcovers, etc., etc., etc.
So here are the fruits of my labor:
I finally finished painting the "Mustard" on our two family room walls.

Ottoman BEFORE:
Ottoman AFTER:

I love the way the Barn Red and Mustard look next to each other.
Here's the "entertainment" we provided for the evening. J/K... But I did get a kick out of these cuties entertaining themselves with the new toy I recently bought for the grand-kiddies.

More fun times!
Em and C.
Cutie-pa-tooties, Sara and Will.

Somehow, I didn't get everyone photographed that night. It was an afterthought at the last minute.

Because Mr. S. was using the little kids' TV to watch his movie that night (old pic above), little Miss C decided to watch 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses' in the living room on our portable DVD player. Hi cute little Miss C. : )
Little sister spent her time playing with the doll houses. That smile is SO contagious!!!! : )
My own two little princesses had to stay home with their Daddy that night because of the stomach flu. : ( We missed them SO much!! Thanks (P) family for visiting us while some of you were in town from Washington. We loved our time together!!!!
Next Post: Because I couldn't truly stop the Universe during my "break", I still attended two birthday parties, made and sent out a Wedding gift, and made a 'Special Order' item for my Shop. I'll share those things with you in a couple of days---ML : )

I love what you did to the room. I agree the mustard and red look great together. It looks like everyone had a good time.
Now you rest :)
Take care

The mustard looks super on your walls. I'm the same way when I'm going to have overnight guests-total craziness as I fly around trying to get projects finished at the last moment! Now please-did you make the slipcover for the ottoman? I'll scream! It's beautiful! I clicked on the other pictures from past posts to look at your house tour from last year-your home is very warm and welcoming....like you! I wouldn't expect it to be any other way ML.
Now take a deep breath and relax. xoxo

I need to rest after just READING about what you did! Yowza, woman!!! Your color palette (colonial tones) is quite similar to my house interior...so, what I'd really like to do is come shopping in your house. Okay? Yes, there are so many wonderful things for me there! Did you sew that ottoman cover? I don't need to even ask do I because I know you did. It's Waverly fabric? *sigh*

Mary Lou your house looks beautiful. I'm glad you were able to have your family together. Sorry to hear of the stomach flu so some had to miss out. I'm looking forward to some company in October, but they will get me as I am. We'll have to get together sometime.

Love the colors and the decorations. Your room is beautiful and well, kinda whimsical, too! Everyone looked like they were having so much fun!

I wanted to share a little craft supply find I made. Dollar Tree has packets of silk-looking fall leaves -- 90 pieces for $1. Some are yellow, brown, some a deep magenta and deep dark green. Very pretty.

I have some of that same yellow and red combo in my house, though it doesn't flow as well as yours does!
Looks like you all had fun and the pratts too!
Your house is so comfortable looking, but still has a nice and clean feel :)

Oh I love some mustard walls! The ottoman is fabulous! I used the same fabric (curtains) to recover a chair. It's my favorite print!

Thanks for coming - - - thanks for commenting. Please come as often and stay as long as you'd like!!!

I don't remember Rosie O'Donnell BEING in "You've Got Mail." I can't remember the line - - - but you are RIGHT, it is really funny in the context of MY dream!!!

Oh, now I DO remember Rosie in THAT movie - - - but I STILL don't remember the dream/line. I must be a movie loser. Hehehehehehe

Oh you do know how to decorate! Lovely taste just like your mother's! I am in a painting frenzy myself preparing for my son's October wedding. New carpet and the wrong color bathroom paint! Eeek! I should have gone with mustard with my red! E

I love the mustard color....and the ottoman. Did you get that fabric at Joann's--'cause I've been eyeing some just like that to redo one of my chairs! Love it.
I do the exact same thing--everything stops! Wouldn't want company to know I live in chaos....
Looks like everyone had a ball.

Just another note. Your ottoman looks great! I love the fabric, and you used pipping! I decided that was too much work for my slipcover. Remember - I still have 2 chairs to do.

We're not technically family, but we might as well be!

Seriously, M.L., we had a lovely time at your house, as always. The place looks great, but the real treat is seeing you and your family whenever we're in town.

You do have the same sofa that I do! And my walls are yellow and we love to make cute stuff! Were we separated at birth? I have seen some of the old photos you posted of your mom and my mom wore her hair the same way. Must look at more posts. (I think I look younger without makeup too.)
