Wednesdays With My Mom AND a Pumpkin Experiment

Below, on a Road Trip, in front of the Motel. The first three kiddos are getting bigger!
Couldn't resist putting this one of my Daddy in too. I'm diggin' those sandals, Andy. : )
On this day last week, we really just laid back and relaxed. Here, Sara is showing Grandmother her 'Happy Book'.

Cute cover, below.
The first page is so clever.
See below:
One more cute page out of her 'Happy Book'. You make me happy, Sara! : )
My mom always goes ga-ga over the Fall Coldwater Creek catalogs. My sister and I always save them for her.
We had my Mom's favorite soup that day while we watched 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'. She got such a kick out of it. It had been a VERY long time since she'd seen it.
Okay, onto the experiment. Last year, I saw these little beauties in a couple of Shops around town. The only problem was...they were $30 EACH! (for the regular sized ones) Ummm...I didn't end up with any. : (

So this year, I just had to try my hand at them. I used silky fabrics instead of velvet, but I still think they turned out kind of cute. Their sizes (including stems): Tall-9.5", Med-7", Sm: 5.5".
I'm selling them as a set, because I can't stand to separate them. I'm charging $28.00 for the set... (got to thinking, there should be a discount for ordering in multiples). But if they just sit in my Shop for a week or two, I'll consider separating them (I know...I'm goofy)!

And as promised, here's a few more $10.00 ones. Last week, I had guessed on the shipping...I guessed wrong! So, I'm sorry if the shipping seems a little steep, but it accurately reflects the cost. And combined shipping is offered.

Happy Wednesday
M.L.

I was going to mention this when you last posted vintage shots...your dad reminds me of a young Ronald Reagan.

I absolutely adore the motel shot - how 50's-60's is that????? Awesome.

It's official (and genetic): there exists a Martha MacGyver Junior. She's got the vision and the touch!

Your pumpkins are lovely. I am happy your mom enjoyed the books, movie and lunch. I love the car in that motel photo - it is Sooooo long!

I love the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers too. It's been awhile since I've seen it. It's so great you can do things with your Mom.

Great post!!
You always share such fun photos! I love the sandals and the sweet little dresses!
The Happy Book is wonderful - I'm sure it means so much to your mom. I share her enthusiasm for Coldwater Creek catalogs - I've never ordered from them but a co-worker does. They come to the office regularly and I love browsing through them.

Your experiment was a huge success! I'm tempted to repaint a room so the set of pumpkins would work in my home. I can't believe the others are sold out already! Will you be making more?

PS. 7Brides/Brothers...sounds like a good idea for Friday night!

As always, I LOVE Wednesdays with mom.

And not only did the pumpkins turn out cute, they turned out CUTER than the $30.00 a piece pumpkins. Makes me wish I could go home and fiddle on my sewing machine. Shhhh....I'm at work.

Have a great day.

Well who doesn't go gaga over the Coldwater Creek fall catalog? ;)

I LOVE that happy book - it's beautiful and so creative that it made ME quite happy as well.

Heehee, I've been house-sitting this week and their cat is named Frank(incense)...because he smelled so sweet. They love 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.

I love those darling striped pumpkins!

I just love reading your stories and basking in the love you radiate for all of them. Making jounals about feeling good and happiness are powerful ways to create -- Sara's journal is really lovely.

When I saw your satin pumpkins I just kept flashing on Christmas colors. That would be so elegant! The stems wouldn't work though, but I just kept thinking of Christmas.

It's great that you can spend this time with your Mom. I like the new pumpkins. I hate shipping it is terrible that sometimes it can be more than what you buy sometimes.

That happy book is adorable. I know where she gets her creativity from. One of my favorite movies is 7 brides for 7 brothers. Love all the old musicals. Mimi

Hi ML! I've been away for a while and have to catch up!
Your fabric pumpkins are beautiful-your choice of fabrics is perfect! Loved the family pictures. I just went to say that I love your Dad's crewcut! I've always liked that style...it has come back a bit and always makes me smile. (Reminds me of Ozzie Nelson! so you know I'm of THAT generation!)
Sara's notebook is great. Has anyone made a simple book for your Mom with pictures of the family and some familiar places or treasured things? She might enjoy having something to look through whenever she wants to.
I love the old musicals, too. And tomato soup! It's my favorite comfort food!
I also loved the look of your antiqued pumpkin from 9/19 post. That was good advice from your daughter. Did you just wipe something on like walnut ink?

You are very talented!

Love your pumpkins. Especially the little stripped ones. Very adorable.

I've never seen Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Wonder if I should since since my hubby is one of seven brothers. : )I really have no idea if it is relevant to that or not.

Your mom is so cute! Love the pumpkins...I remember last year when "Sunshine in my soul" started that with her pattern. She also saw them in a boutique and did not want to pay those prices. We have Hunter in a crew cut too...we have a little barbershop that still does them...not everyone knows how. cherry

M.L. thanks for sending that link along to me I loved it! With my fondness for using the recyle bin contents for craft supplies I sometimes think I should change my blog name to the "destitute desperate crafter" but seeing something so cute like that makes me think it's quite acceptable after all. ;)
