Update

We finally have a diagnosis as of this morning (Thursday). After three hours of MRIs on Tuesday, they have discovered that my mom has a hairline fracture in her hip and lower spine. The Dr. discussed all the options. He's thinking the one on the spine (due to Osteoporosis) is the real culprit. So tomorrow (Friday) we will discuss, with the spine specialist, the new procedure of injecting "cement" into the fracture to ease the pain. Apparently there has been a lot of success with this.
We've known about the Osteoporosis and she's been on supplements for quite sometime now, trying to ward off the negative effects. I'm just glad to have an explanation and thankful that they've been able to keep her comfortable, for the most part, at the hospital.

*I wanted to let you know that my siblings have been completely overwhelmed by the love and compassion reflected in your comments regarding our mother. Thank you so much for your sweet support and prayers. I'm sure they have helped.
No need to leave a comment on this update. I just wanted to keep my promise to 'update' as the info came in. : )

Thank you again,
Mary Lou

Mary Lou, I'm gald you've got a diagnosis, but so sorry for her discomfort. Does anyone work with your Mom on any kind of an exercise program?? I'm a trainer and CES and work with many who have osteoporosis. She's in my prayers

ML, I'm so glad they found the culprit and it would be soooooooo great if the cement injection did the trick.

Wilma is so tiny; she looks like she has bones the size of a bird. Combining that with osteoporosis can be challenging.

I just sent up prayers for her and all of you. I know how emotionally exhausting the stress and worry can be. xo

Oh Mary Lou,
I was catching up on some of my favorite blogs and I just read about your Mom. I am so sorry that she has been in so much pain but I am glad that they discovered the source. It is so hard to watch someone you love be in discomfort--the feeling can be so helpless. I know your Mom is comforted by your visits. I will be praying that Gods hands will be with the doctors as they perform the procedure and that it will be successful in easing your mom's pain. You and your family will continue to be in my prayers.

My brother-in-law is 74 and had the cement procedure and it is perfect. He is quite active and lifted something heavy last year and had the fracture in his spine between his shoulder blades. They did the procedure and he's just as active as ever -- he just doesn't overdo anymore lifting anything excessively heavy. She should do so well with this! Blessings to all of you.

I wanted to let you know that I have a blog friend in NY who had great success with the cement procedure. I pray that your Mom's pain will lessen and that she will be able to walk comfortably very soon. May God bless you and your family during this time.

Hi Mary Lou, I'm glad they were able to do the procedure so quickly. I hope the healing is quick and your Mom remains comfortable. When we're young our parents take care of us and when they are up in their years, we take care of them . . they become very precious to us and we hate to see them go through anything difficult. Stay in faith and rest. Have a good Tuesday!
