Wednesdays With My Mom

Last week, I told of how my mom & dad purchased a new camera while they were engaged and spent many a happy hour experimenting with all the settings. Well, this particular day they went down to the beach (in California) and took turns photographing each other. Looks like Mom is wearing a swimsuit cover-up. She always had on the cutest shoes! Guess that's where my daughters and I got our shoe addiction from. Sorry Mom...but it had to come from somewhere!!
My daddy passed away in 2001 and we all miss him so much. He was an angel daddy.
Okay, our first stop today was at the Dr.'s office, then over to the Lab to get some blood work done. I kept trying to reassure my mom and tell her everything would be alright. (Talk about role reversal). So when the time came, the most adorable Eastern-Indian man called my mom back and was the one to draw her blood. I can't tell you how cute he was to my mom. So I held her hand and told her, "Whatever you do Mom, don't look while he does it. Look away...just look away." I felt my hand start to get clammy and I was so worried for her. It was like being a young mommy all over again. But it was over in no time and she was SO BRAVE! Afterwards my mom said to the fellow, "I can just tell that you're a good soul." He smiled shyly and that's when I asked him if I could take his photo with my mom. He was so adorable about it and willingly obliged. : )
Next stop...the hair salon. Her last dye job didn't last as long as we'd hoped which I know she was so disappointed about. So we went in and took care of that this afternoon. Next stop...my daughter's house where Princess C and G live. They begged Nana (that's me) to read The Cat in the Hat. No problem...your wish is my command. : )
G.G. (for Great Grandmother) sat on Princess C's bed and listened to story time too. Notice the great hair color? : )
Next, each Princess wanted to perform a little song for G.G. Yea for Princess G!
Next came Princess C. Looks like everyone was pleased with her performance too! And don't forget to notice their mommy...My beautiful Princess, Emily.

You are so blessed to have such great photos of your parents when they were younger. They were so smart to buy a camera while they were engaged! My parents had a camera too and I love the photos of my mom laying on the beach (In a bikini no less) with a hut behind her that read "surf shop" It's the coolest photo and was also taken in California where I was born.
Your daughter and granddaughters are beautiful and so cute~ What a blessing to have everyone together.

Oh, I just had the most fun looking through your blog! I am so glad you visited me so I could find it! Thanks for the compliments on Marie Antoinette, it always means more when a fellow seamstress tells you something like that because they appreciate what is involved!

Gorgeous pictures! I love the way people used to dress. They were always so prim and put together. I love all the shoes women used to wear. In every picture of my grandma, she has dark red (well really dark colored in the pic)polish. I just think people took a lot more pride in their appearance. I could look at old photos all day!

I just have to comment you your post of your wonderful day with your Mom. My father died 3 years ago so I also spend a day with my Mom each week and take her to run errands, etc. So sweet how you shared it on your blog. I also like the two pictures of your Mom and Dad taken when they were young at the beach. These pictures and the knowledge what they were doing is so priceless, great things to past down to your daughter and daughters. Thanks fo sharing.
Love, Ann

You have great looking parents. You are so lucky that they took pictures when they were young. I have very few pictures of my parents when they were young. I didn't realize you were a grandma, you look so young. Must be in the genes. Have a great weekend. :-)

It’s such a treat to get to see those old photos of your parents. They are beautiful fashion plates let me tell ya!

First off I just gotta say that that visit to the Dr's brought tears to my eyes. Your mom is such a dear and I feel in some little way I'm getting to know just how special she is.

Love that hair and I’m sure she enjoyed her visit to the salon.

Aw, your grand babies are too cute and I have to pinch myself to remind me that the little ones belong to your adorable daughter.

I know how much she must treasure these special times with family.

I enjoy your Wed with Mom posts so much...I have a picture of my Mom sitting on our couch at the cabin with her feet up just like your Mom is sitting on your grandaughters bed...they are so similar! it is weird. And I can relate to the role reversal...it made me so happy to take care of my Mom and repay her for all she done for me.
