Wednesdays With My Mom AND...A Post Revisited

This photo was taken on my parent's wedding day. I love taking in every detail. Old California...wish I could have been there! : )
I didn't take any photos of my mom last week, because she was having a rough time. I told my brothers and sisters afterwards, that I guess we'll just have to treasure the good days, because it seems to go back and forth.
So, I thought instead, I would re-post an old favorite of mine from 2008. Enjoy!...
No...you're not seeing double. Sara & I went to an antique store last week and I bought this second M.E. teapot. When they were ringing it up Sara said, "Don't you have one just like that at home?" I replied, "yes", but that I was planning on changing this one up a bit. She just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Hmm." Note: I paid (around) $28.00 for the first one at a very nice boutique several years ago. This second one only cost me $8.00. However, there is a little chip in the base, but that didn't bother me because I was planning on painting over it anyway. SO...let the fun begin! I chose red nail polish for the new flower color. And black enamel paint for the new polka-dots and base color. NOTE: The nail polish worked so much better. I ended up having to paint clear nail polish over the black.
For the big polka-dots I used a pencil eraser.

Bye-bye pink.

And I used the ball of a sewing pin for the little polka-dots.

Cute little cousins now. : )
One last photo with the flash so you can see how bright the red really is.
DO try this at home. : )

Thank you for sharing the pic of your parents on their wedding day. They look beautiful! I am sorry she is having such a tough time. I know it is hard on each of you to see her this way.

I love the red on the 2nd teapot - that's cute as can be!

Your Mom remains in my heart and prayers and so do you.

The wedding photo is beautiful and in such a wonderful setting. And your refashioned teapot now looks like it came from McKenzie-Childs!

Mary Lou!!!!! I had no idea I could do this...I have like a complete set of this pattern of ME!!!! Butter dish, teapot, like 5 or 6 pieces!!!! And I stored them away because I am not a pink girl, but I got them at a grocery outlet store where I used to live...they were pennies on the dollar, and who can walk away from ME????? LOL What a great post! THANK YOU!!!!!!

i am sorry to hear that your mom was having a rough week.

Those are no fun.

we will be rootin' for her this week.

ps im gonna rebel against your suggestion to "try this at home" cuz i would drip nail polish down the side and smudge the polka dots and end up puttin the whole t pot in the DI pile. :(

but i love yours!!!

Do you sometimes wonder WHY we have to go through some of the things we do here on Earth life?

It's hard to see the sun some days, but we know it's there shinning above the storm. You are an amazing woman!

I hope your Mom has more good days than bad. It's hard watching our parents grow old. Loved the photo of them getting into the car.

Morning Mary Lou,

I'm so sorry to hear that your Mom is having so many bad days. All you can do is cherish the good ones. Know you are always in my prayers during this time.

I remember that post and I LOVE the red on the teapot. It actually looks much more like a REAL Mary Engelbreit piece with it changed to red.

Hope you are having beautiful weather like we are.♥

You inspire me...with pin head in hand and pencil eraser to the rescue, off I go to my happy craft room to see what I can paint.
I love Mary E. also, she has helped me over the years color my world very very happy. I especially like her Garden Companion book and I'm searching for idea's for my backyard. About ready to put shovel to the dirt.
Found a nice guy out of work to build me a Fairyland Garden shed, estimate coming soon. I'm so excited. Hopefully it won't cost me a fortune all in the name of cute!
Happy to be here with you. Come dance with me on my blog!

I always think how special it is that you and your siblings have this amazing photographic history of your parent's lives. To me it seems as though it has been a calling to share these photos with us just as your mother's health began to decline. Imagine all of the well wishes and prayers that are sent her way daily. Imagine that so many of us have been touched by her life. She will always be apart of us. Elizabeth
