Wednesdays With My Mom

Another leg of the honeymoon. My parents went to Iowa so my mother could meet some of my dad's family. My dad was raised there. By this time, my grandfather had already passed away my grandmother had moved to California and attended their wedding. This photo is of my mother, on the left, and my Aunt Lois with her two daughters.
When I first arrived, we had lunch on my mom's back porch. I had to take this photo of her watering her geraniums just because I thought it was cute.

My mom is FAMOUS for being the shoe queen. All of her daughters and grand daughters blame her for their shoe addiction. Anyway, she's such a good sport about me taking all kinds of silly photos of her. : )

Okay, that morning before I left I was looking through an ad for Pier 1. I don't shop there very often, but when I turned the page and saw these lovely little glitter houses, my heart skipped a beat. I immediately called to see if they had any left and had them hold all three of these for me. Just so you know, they're only about 4 inches tall. I'm planning on turning them into Christmas houses and making a little German glitterhouse display this year.

I just had to take a photo of my mom sitting in a black and white chair. : )

I thought this frame, above, was so pretty. It looks like real lace, but it's just resin like the rest of the frame. It gave me the idea of maybe putting real lace on an existing frame and then spray painting it???

These may not look big in the photo but they were about 20" tall and about 5' long.

I Made Some Flower Fairies...and show you how to do it, too!

First off, I must give credit to the talented lady who put a tutorial for these on her Site last summer. Her name is Denise of 'Living Life Creatively'. You can find her tutorial here. She made her "fairy" daughters into plant stakes. SO CUTE!

I've never been able to get this project out of my mind, so I've been preparing for awhile now by buying all sorts of odd and ends and taking pix of the grand babies. Hee-hee...I took the photos on the sly one night while babysitting all three, while their parents were on a double date. : )

Below, is my terribly handsome grandson. Somehow, I didn't think his mommy and daddy would want me to make him into a fairy. : ) SO...

I had him pose like this so I can deck him out to be a SUPER HERO! I'm pretty sure I'll do the whole Superman thing, cape included. I'm really excited to tackle this.
Like Denise instructs, cut your photo out and glue onto good card stock.

Some of the things I've been collecting (below).

The best thing I purchased was this little fairy doll from Marshall's. I've seen them at TJMaxx, too. I ended up using all the glittery leaf-like things, on my "fairies". Only $3.99.

First, the wings go on.
Then, I glittered her top and added the "skirt".

More skirt frills.

I added some embellishment to the waistline.

And last, I had fun creating the crown and adding some glitter to the green part of the skirt.

Next, big sister's turn. I actually cut apart the butterfly wings you saw in my supplies photo, to use as her underskirt.

I just happened to have these little paperdoll stands in my craft stash, so I used them to help my fairies to stand. I put big sister on a block so she would be taller.

Then, I added some green moss, little eggs and some tiny millinery flowers.

This was SO MUCH FUN, it should've been illegal. Hee-hee! :-)

Wednesdays With My Mom

Another Honeymoon photo my dad took of my mom while traveling through the Grand Canyon. The first part of this day was spent just hanging out watching Bonanza...one of Mom's favorite shows.

I hope your eyesight is good, because I took these photos with Sara's camera that night and this is as big as I could get them. Anyway...we decided to run over to TJ Maxx in the early evening just for fun. Emily and the girls showed up at GG's just as we were getting ready to leave and decided to come with us.

The girls were all excited about the Easter decorations. They ended up getting little glittery Easter fairies. : )

And GG ended up getting a few nice things including this black and white blouse...her favorite color combination.

So CUTE!

Welcome Spring!!!

Just letting Spring know that I am ready!!!

A little project: I got these letters super cheap at Walmart. But I needed them to be glittery pink. Not a problem that Martha Stewart and I can't fix!

When I bought these two chocolate-looking bunnies at JoAnn's last month, I knew immediately that I was going to string a banner between them. : )

AND THEN... I found this amazing architectural piece at our local antique store. The perfect setting for my bunnies! Not sure where it will end up one day.

I got this cute little Easter Cone at TJ Maxx.

Still having fun with my new Artist's Hand.These three little bunny fairies also came from TJM.

And lastly, I found this little apothecary jar at a local Thrift Store last night for only $4.99. I'd been wanting a tiny one for a while now. I LOVE the pastel eggs in it. But I need to go buy some more eggs to finish filling up the taller jar.

Oh Spring...how I adore thee! : )
