About Quilts and Closets

Are you sitting down???...because believe it or not, I finally finished the quilt top that I've been working on ever since I started Blogging a few years ago. Yippee!!!
And speaking of quilts, I've decided to store my future quilt projects on the top shelf of this closet I've been trying to organize lately. I finally found the perfect use for all those paper-type suitcases I have. (confession: you should have seen the disaster at my feet and behind me, from everything I had pulled out so I could organize!!!)
Then I decided to make tags of what project was in which suitcase.

This is a little Mary Engelbreit red and white quilt, below.
And speaking of ME...are the rest of you as guilty as I am...(see below). Ha!
Lucky me!! I just happened to be at Walmart the day they threw these onto the clearance shelf. So I picked up three at that price.

Below, is the quilt I made for my little Grandson for Christmas, to inspire him to become an Eagle Scout like his daddy one day. These fabrics are made by Robert Kaufman. They have Girl Scout fabrics too. I ordered these on the Internet from a Website called Beverly's Fabrics.

Can you read the words from the Scout Oath in that red strip of fabric, below? How great!
Daddy's quilt, below.
With an Eagle quilted on the back, which my friend Margie did for me (thanks sweet friend)!
Happy sewing!
M.L.

Wow. That's way too much work. I made one quilt way back when. I was in high school and made it a queen size for when I was an old married woman (since I was NEVER going to make a quilt again). Ironically enough, our bed is a king and the quilt is tucked under the bed where we never see it. :(

Hi ML~
Your basket quilt makes me swoon...love the colors and the flowers really remind me of our favortie ME. Will you hang it on a wall? I love quilts as wall art. Speaking of
"The Mary"...why would anyone feel guilty for squirreling away those mags...they're all we have. Wish I had bought those cute magazine holders.
I am so happy to see your scouting quilts...a labor of love. My Dad would have loved one of those.
Your talent never ceases to amaze me. Your organization makes me hang my head in shame-LOL!
Have a great weelk.

Your quilt is gorgeous and well worth the wait! Your organized closet looks so nice. I'm going through boxes in the living room and every surface is covered in stuff I'm sorting, boxes on the floor and stacked in corners. It will feel just that much better when I finish! I love that closet of yours.

Well...I'll bee...I had no idea you could quilt and sew such beauty. Have you ever entered a sewing bee, because you'd be the cutest bee!

Your boxes are fun and your storage idea rocks girlfriend. I'm a nut about boxes and yes, I have all those "ME" magazines too. Would not part with them for all the tea parties in china.

I'm still talking to my friends about that spectacular wedding you put on!

Love to you on this Sunday night. At daybreak, Valentines Day will be here. Sending Cupid with directions to your house. Sending warm hugs and thankful for our friendship.

You are so clever and talented, ML! I don't have an ounce of that in me!

But your organizational skills? Only ALMOST as good as mine. I think I'm more OCD. :)

That quilt is beautiful ~ love the bright & cheery colors! Love the one you made for your grandson too. It will be a great inspiration for him, I'm sure.

Now about that closet...
I've been trying to get my life/house in order for weeks and I would love a closet like that. Actually I would love to have you come and help me organize what I have! : )

I recently started using tags to label the contents of boxes and I love how that works out. Those boxes from Walmart were a great deal. great colors too!

Those are beautiful quilts!
I wish I had been at WalMart when they had those suitcases on sale. I KNOW I need to organize something...okay, everything! I haven't been sewing lately because my poor sewing machine is buried under all the stuff I need to organize....

MJ, that quilt is just fabulous! I definitely can relate to taking a bit of time finishing up a quilt! I still have many, many unfinished pieces laying around! Your craft closet is amazing. I love how you've organized it with the coordinating boxes. I'm such a sucker for cute colored organizing stuff! Yes! I'm also guilty of hoarding my past issues of ME. So sad the mag's out of publication. I miss it :o(

Thanks for sharing! You've inspired me to get my craft room a bit more organized. Seems like that's all I do in here!

Have a great week!

Hi Mary Lou,
Oh I loved seeing all of your quilts. I just finished a blog post on my very first quilt. My mom has been wanting to teach me for years so I decided this would be the year. I think I am hooked :)
You have inspired me with your wonderful organization. It is snowing here in Pgh again--that might be a nice project for a snow day.
Thanks for sharing your talents,
