Fun With My Little 'Instant Relative'

Last Fall, I was at the Antique Store and found this little girl for sale in one of the booths. I just couldn't leave her there...so she came home with me and became an "Instant Ancestor" (a borrowed expression I've heard elsewhere).

So I started dressing her up last Halloween, beginning with this costume. She looks pretty happy with her butterfly wings and black witch hat.

Then around Valentine's day she traded in her black hat for this little crown, below.

Soon, it was Easter and I changed her location to this cute little cone, below. I also gave her new wings which reflected Spring colors.

She used to be in my Shop, but someone snatched her up and off she went to California.

Then the other night, I got out this new Stamp set I bought recently and was JUST going to see if the little black mask would fit my "little Ancestor".
It DID! And that's when all the mischief began. I just kept playing, and playing, and playing until she finally ended up in her little nest on top of this pumpkin.

I haven't decided if I can part with her yet. That's why she's not sitting over there in the Shop. Of course I know I can make her again, because I scanned her original. So, stay tuned.....I'll be sure to let you know if I end up putting her there.

Wednesdays With My Mom

I tried to upload these pics Tuesday night and again Wednesday morning, but to no avail. I kept getting an 'error' message.

Adorable family pic below: Mom, Dad, and the first three kiddos, D, A, and little J. So Sweet!On this day last Wednesday we just took it easy. We watched a John Wayne movie and cut out Witch body parts (sounds worse than it was)!

My mom absolutely loves being given these little jobs. Just sayin'...so you won't think I'm a slave driver.

Just a Short One Today...about a quilt : )

It got crazy busy towards the end of last week cuz one of our "gal pals" got married on Saturday. It was all very exciting. By Thursday we were all busy either making cupcakes for the reception, one of the gals cut LOTS of vinyl, and then there was this surprise quilt you see below that needed to be finished.
Isn't this just the sweetest quilt ever??? All the colored fabrics are from a 1930's reproduction line. This little surprise for Leslie, was Margie's brain child. Last month four of us got together over at Margie's to make this little sneaky project come together. Then last week Margie quilted it on her Long Arm.
One guess what we were doing Friday night...yep...we did the binding around the edges by hand while watching Jane Eyre (2006 version/THE BEST EVER)!
And because the quilt was SO ultra cute, we had to have an "ultra cute" quilt label. See the package I scanned (above)? I've been dying to try my hand at this product for a long time and now I had the perfect project for it.
So I just typed out this cute label with some of my fun fonts, printed it on the special paper in the kit, ironed it on, and then sewed the pink strips around to give it a border. I LOVE the way it turned out. I blurred out every one's last name for obvious reasons, so if it looks like Clorox spills, it's just my bad photo-editing skills. : ) I got this Avery product at Staples BTW.

So Much Catching Up To Do

A few things I was able to squeeze in last week, in between cleaning:
My friend, who is a Nancy Drew fan, had a birthday last week. These adorable Nancy Drew Scrabble pendants are from Lori's lovely Shop over at Morning Glories and Moonflowers. Then there was a Wedding gift to tend to. I made the card below...my married daughter's idea a couple of years ago. The cake is embossed. Love, love, love it! : )

She has dozens of little steps to her, but she's worth it. : )

I can't decide if I like the purple hanger or the orange one. I guess it's nice to have a choice.

Wednesdays With my Mom

My beautiful Mother. At work as a Secretary at about the age of 24.

Okay, catching up on two 'Wednesdays...' this week. Two weeks ago I decided to ask my Mom if she wanted to help me with a sewing/craft project. She was thrilled (I just knew she would be).
: ) So I marked precisely where to make the stitches.

My mom was the most incredible seamstress I've ever known. She really should have been a fashion designer.

I kept asking her is she was tired and wanted to stop. But she just happily plowed through until all eight were done.

Then, last week I asked my mom if she would like to help me finish up the painting of our family room. This is also another longtime love of my mom's. I have plenty of memories of her painting the walls of our homes over the years.
She loved every minute of this. I had a feeling she would. (Wink) ;-)

And of course, the end result. Thank you sweet Mom!
